Safer to touch: One of the advantages of using a heater that isn’t made from metal is that if you accidentally touch the panel, the heat will transfer to you slower than a metal heater, thus normally making it safer. If you have a “typical” reflex reaction you will be able to pull away from the heater before enough heat has transferred to burn you. Choose the 3 units with heat guards deal if you want to have added “touch safety” for babies, toddlers and elderly who don’t have a “typical” reflex reaction time when touching something hot.
Efficient heat distribution: The heater design will efficiently distribute the generated heat throughout the room using natural convection. The 25mm gap between the heater panel itself and the foil lined wall provides a perfect sized channel for air to be heated and this natural convection to occur. There is some radiant heat as well (all our heaters need a clear space in front of them) but you can have items close either side of them.
Economical heat technology: Your Amaze 250W electric convective wall panel heater can be used for long periods of time and has a low running cost. This can help to lower the home heating costs up to 50% compared to other forms of space heaters. And warm just the room of your choice without having to heat the entire house!
Running costs: The beauty of your fixed wattage panel heater is you know how much power you will use before you turn it on. This mini heater only uses 1 unit of electricity every 4 hours. Depending on where you live, that could be less than 5 cents per hour on night rate, and around 10 cents per hour on peak rate. If you think 250 watts is going to get your room too hot, you can add a plug-in thermostat.
Room size: As a general guideline, this 250W heater is usually suitable for bedrooms up to 9 sqm, assuming the desire is just to keep the room comfortable for sleeping. Appropriate room size for any of the Amaze panel heaters can depend on many factors such as climate, outdoor temperature, insulation, double glazing, age of building, temperature of adjacent rooms and even a person’s concept of warmth. All Amaze heaters can be used with a plug-in time switch or plug-in thermostat. This 250W mini heater with a plug-in thermostat could even be installed in a large cupboard. Just ensure, like all heaters, that nothing can fall on the heater blocking the convective airflow and causing a fire.
Under desk location: If a person sitting at a desk wants to be warm, these mini 250W heaters mounted under the desk near the person’s legs will use a quarter of the power than a 1000W oil filled column heater or fan heater sitting next to them will consume. Just mount the heater on the vertical “rear” of the desk or on the wall if no desk structure at the rear. Two mounting screws will be sufficient. Install in landscape orientation (45cm high, 60cm wide) with 15cm between top edge of heater and the underside of the desk.
Paintable: This heater can be painted with any water-based (acrylic) non-enamel paint.
Unobtrusive: The heater panel itself is only about 1.2cm thick. The panel sits 2.5cm off the wall. So the total thickness out from the wall is less than 4cm. The 250W electric convective wall panel heater must be a minimum of 15cm above the floor.
Quiet: No fan! Less noise! This can make it better for asthma and allergy sufferers with less dust being pushed around. And obviously perfect for sleeping.
Composition: What’s the heater made of? This type of Amaze heater is made with two sheets of durable non-conducting superior calcium silicate boards specially made for us. The glue that bonds both sheets has insulating properties with excellent dielectric strength. All components are certified materials and fire retardant. The resulting complete panels have extra reinforced strength (making them shatter proof among other things) and are triple insulated (excellent for safety).
Conforms to NZ standards: All Amaze heaters sold in New Zealand comply with NZ standards, and we can present a Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity.
Easy to install: Screw to the wall using supplied mounting kit, foil heat reflector and template. Plug it in with the approx. 1.7m-long cord and plug. An extension cord or multibox can be safely used, as the wattage of the heater is so low. A plug-in timeswitch (or timer) and/or plug-in thermostat can also be safely used.
Installation: Instructions are included with heater, and here is a summary:
- Mark all 4 position holes on the wall, using template supplied.
- Drill the pilot holes for the drywall anchors.
- Screw the drywall anchor into each pilot hole.
- Pin the foil sheet to the wall using supplied pins.
- Secure the four mounting legs to the wall using the supplied screws.
- Align the holes on the heater panel with the mounting legs.
- Firmly screw in the four legs.
- Finalise the position of the heater on the wall while tightening the screws.
- Tighten the cap/nuts over the four mounting posts to lock the unit in place.
